Refinish That Old Piece helps you restore furniture. We built it to keep as little about you as possible. You can use it without an account. If you make one, it’s just your email and a password.

Your photos

• Photos of your furniture and your rooms stay on your device. Painting colors, placing a piece in your room and building your supply list all happen on your device.
• When you tap Scan with AI, that one photo is sent to our server and to our AI provider (Anthropic) to look for the wood type and damage. We don’t keep the photo after the scan is done, and we don’t use it for anything else.

Your account and saved projects

• If you create an account, we keep your email and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We can’t see your password.
• If you save a project, we keep its photos, colors, notes and timers in your account so you can open it on other devices. Delete a project anytime from My projects, and it’s removed from our server.

What we keep

• A random device ID created by the app, so we can remember your plan and how many AI scans you have left. It isn’t linked to your name, email or phone number.
• If you subscribe: your email address (given to Stripe at checkout), your plan, its renewal or end date, and how many scans you have left. We use your email only to send you a 6-digit code when you want to use your plan on another device, and for important notices about your subscription.
• Projects you don’t save to your account stay only on your device.

Payments

Payments and subscriptions on the website are handled by Stripe. You can change or cancel your plan anytime from the Plans screen. In the Android and iPhone apps, payments are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see or store your card number.

Emails

Sign-in codes are sent through our email provider (Resend). We don’t send marketing emails unless you ask for them.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your information.
• We don’t show ads or use advertising trackers.
• We don’t read your location from your photos.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app, or clearing this site’s data in your browser, removes everything stored on your device. To delete your account, saved projects, device ID, email and plan record from our server, email us with the ID shown in the app.

Children

Refinish That Old Piece isn’t made for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
